About the Play

Jasper and KJ, two misfit 30-somethings, meet behind a Vermont coffee shop to discuss music, poetry, and writing. When Evan, a new employee, stumbles into their midst, the pair decides to welcome him into their unique posse. This site-specific, outdoor run of The Aliens will run for seven performances across one week in August.

The Aliens premiered at the Rattlestick Theatre in New York in 2010, starring Michael Chernus, Dane DeHaan, and Eric Gann, and winning the Obie Award for Best New American Play.

Note: Location of performance is on the Northside of Chicago in the Ravenswood/Andersonville neighborhood. More details regarding performance location will be shared upon confirmation of ticket reservation.

About the Playwright ANNIE BAKER

Annie Baker is an American playwright and teacher who won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for her play The Flick. Among her works are the Shirley, Vermont plays, which take place in the fictional town of Shirley: Circle Mirror Transformation, Body Awareness, and The Aliens. She was named a MacArthur Fellow for 2017.

About the Director BRENT ERVIN-EICKHOFF

Brent Ervin-Eickhoff is a filmmaker, stage director, writer, and educator based in Chicago, IL. An award-winning filmmaker, Brent’s films have screened at the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, and as part of TiltShift Film Festival, Silicon Beach Film Festival, Frog Baby Film Festival, and the Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project. He has worked with Court Theatre, A Red Orchid Theatre, Silk Road Rising, Facility Theatre, BoHo Theatre, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co., The Public House Theatre, and other storefronts in a variety of artistic and administrative roles. He was an Associate Artist and Resident Director with The Barrens Theatre Co., serves as Managing Director of Bramble Theatre Co., and is a board member of The Passage Theatre. www.brentasmagoria.com

David Stobbe (Jasper)
David Stobbe is a Chicago based, actor, writer and singer. Hailing from Joliet, Illinois, he's an artist in residence with the prestigious Cliffdwellers Club of Chicago. A graduate from Columbia College, he's worked across the country and on Chicago stages such as Nashville Children's Theater, Porchlight Music Theater, The Story Theater, Theo Ubique Cabaret Theater and the Minneapolis Fringe Festival. Martin Tebo (KJ)
Martin is thrilled to make his Chicago debut in one of his favorite plays! Originally from Portland, Oregon, Martin worked for several professional northwest theatre companies before moving to Chicago for his post-graduate acting career. Most recent credits include playing Roderigo in Hoosier Shakes' production of Othello, and understudying for several roles in Midsommer Flight's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Gardy Gilbert (Evan)
Gardy is super excited to be a part of The Aliens!  He is a Chicago-based theatre and flow artist along with being a Ball State Acting BFA alumni. Some of his most recent credits include Remote with BoHo Theatre (Writer/Performer), Scary Stories: Are You Afraid and Dark Web with Random Acts Chicago (Various Roles) and Try to Be, a piece devised by La Vuelta Ensemble (Ensemble Member).
